James Short

James has spent most of his 20-year career as an entrepreneur in the digital media and advertising technology industries, leading sales and business development teams for four different companies, including Market Hardware (Co-founder and SVP of Sales – acquired by HomeAdvisor/IAC in 2009) and Q1Media, Inc. In James’ most previous role as VP of Business Development for Q1Media, James led all major partnerships and video distribution initiatives to reach over 20 million users a month through desktop and mobile channels. James founded Inwood Road Films in 2016 with his brother, John, with whom he has invested in and/or produced five independent films.

John Short

John’s broad film industry experience began in 2007 at Paradigm Talent Agency. He transitioned to international film sales in 2009, eventually leading to his first feature film he produced while at Voltage Pictures - A GOOD MAN. John has distributed such high profile titles as the Oscar-winning film DALLAS BUYERS CLUB and Eli Roth’s Sundance hit KNOCK KNOCK. He also handled Asia and Eastern Europe distribution on the films BLUE VALENTINE and GHOST RIDER 2. John is an executive at Radiant Films International where he worked on the award winning film HUNGRY HEARTS with Adam Driver and MADAME BOVARY with Mia Wasikowska and Paul Giamatti.

 

INWOOD ROAD FILMS

At INWOOD ROAD FILMS, James and John produce and invest in independent films, including PLUS ONE, produced by Red Hour Films and Studio71, starring Jack Quaid and Maya Erskine, and BURN, starring Josh Hutcherson and Suki Waterhouse, released in 2019. They were producers on the feature film, CONFESSIONAL, along with Bold Soul Media and Attic Light Films, starring Paris Berelc and Marcus Scribner, released on SHUDDER in 2020. Their most recent projects include THE DARK & THE WICKED from acclaimed writer/director Bryan Bertino (THE STRANGERS and THE MONSTER), and THE HERRICANES, a documentary based on the Houston Herricanes women’s football team. The film premiered at SXSW in 2023 and won the Audience Award in the Documentary Spotlight category, as well as the Louis Black “Lone Star” Special Jury Award.
